Enjoyment stronghold in Margareten
In the middle of the 5th district, Schlossquadrat is a popular place for people meet. The foundation walls of the building complex date back to the 14th century and the first serving of wine was documented at the end of the 18th century. In the 1990s, the property was taken over by Stefan Gergely. Starting with the restaurant "Schlossgasse 21" (today's Gergely's), three further gastronomic concepts were then added to the area: the Viennese Beisel "Silberwirt", the "Cuadro" and the Trattoria "Margareta". The focal point is an “upscale Beisel (pub) level” culinary concept with emphasis on high quality ingredients from regional producers. A special feature is also the own beer brand "Das Margaretner", which is freshly tapped in all 4 restaurants, as well as the well-stocked wine cellar with special attention to regional grape varieties at an excellent price-performance ratio. Schlossquadrat also includes Das Hofstöckl, which is available for exclusive events, and the apartments in the building complex.
Since 2015, Jürgen Geyer and Rudolf Kirschenhofer are the new owners of the 4 restaurants and in charge of the culinary concept. Their motto is: "Only the highest quality products, whose origin we know, from suppliers we trust, goes into our pots. Seasonality and sincerity in preparation are top priorities. "Professional service, fine wines, friendliness and a warm welcome make a stay at Schlossquadrat a pleasure," is the unanimous tenor of the well-coordinated team.
In summer, the cosy inner courtyards provide the perfect backdrop for a light business lunch or laid back evenings with friends and family. In winter, the four restaurants in the Schlossquadrat are the ideal place for business lunches, cosy dinners for two or with friends. Fine cocktails, a large selection of national and international wines and freshly tapped beer are the perfect accompaniment to the diverse culinary offerings:
Steaks & Co. at Gergely's
The evening restaurant Gergely's offers steaks and ribs as well as delicious burgers with original US Herford Beef! Guests will find a very well-stocked wine list containing a wide selection of Austrian and international wines. The garden is considered to be one of the cosiest in the city. Inside, the striking castle vault from the 14th century offers a unique ambiance for hours of enjoyment.
Italian flair in the Trattoria Margareta
In Trattoria Margareta guests experience pure Italian flair. Whether you start the evening with fine prosciutto and a glass of prosecco or you choose the whole grilled Branzino - here, alongside pizza and pasta, fans of Italian cuisine will find a wide selection of specialities.
Burgers & cocktails: Happy Hour at Cuadro
Every day from 5 to 7 pm, the Cuadro team invites you to Happy Hour. During this time, all cocktails are 40% off! The best accompaniment with your cocktail is a square burger from the Cuadro kitchen. Both best enjoyed under the old vine in the secluded garden with its splashing fountain.
Viennese Beiselkultur (pup culture)at Silberwirt
Silberwirt has been an inn for over 200 years. Today, as a Beisel (pub) classic, it presents itself more lively and youthful than ever. Workers and managers, students and bon vivants as well as the occasional tourist meet here.
Just as it should be in a real Viennese Beisel. A traditional and popular summer meal at Silberwirt is a pork knuckle with the classic side dishes and our house beer. Best enjoyed in our inner courtyard!
